Eric Estrin
Editor
Eric Estrin has worked in a variety of capacities, most of which involve the precise arrangement of electrons on computer screens for publishers or film and television production companies.
He began his career as editor of New Look magazine, an arts and entertainment bi-weekly in Gainesville, Florida, and later served as a top editor at Miami magazine and special projects editor at Television Week, a Los Angeles-based trade magazine.
He has also written about the entertainment industry for publications as diverse as People, Playboy, TV Guide and Los Angeles, where he was TV critic and contributing editor. After growing bored with criticizing television content in the mid 1980s, he decided to try creating it. He wrote a spec Miami Vice episode with a partner, which launched his career as a Hollywood writer-producer, mainly of one-hour dramas. He went on to write episodes for numerous series, such as Miami Vice, Cagney & Lacey and Hercules, and to work on the staff of six shows, including MacGyver, The Outer Limits and V.I.P. Breaking Point — a feature he co-wrote with his partner — went straight to home video, where it belongs.
Eric serves as contributing editor at The Wrap, an online industry trade publication, for which he wrote the popular, long-running interview column, “Hollywood Breakthrough.â€Â He is also a contributing writer at L.A. Observed, where he created and ran the L.A. Observed Script Project, an interactive, group screenwriting collaboration.
He lives in Ventura County, California with his wife, two kids and dog, Hendrix.
